Anna Salamone is a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher and psychotherapist, recently retired from private practice in Ithaca, New York. In her clinical practice she worked with people who had mild to severe symptoms across diagnostic categories, as well as with those seeking help with potentially stressful life situations, such as loss, transitions, physical changes, and health concerns. In addition to insight orientated psychotherapy, she offered individual and group work in mindfulness based techniques.
Anna received training and teacher certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School for the 8-week program that was developed there by Jon Kabat-Zinn. This stress reduction program is appropriate for people with physical pain, stress, and stress-related conditions. Many people have also found it helpful in managing anxiety and habitual negative thought patterns.
She was trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) with Zindel Segal and Susan Woods. MBCT is an 8-week course with underpinnings in the original stress-reduction program. It is designed to help people who have experienced three or more episodes of clinical depression. Anna has been leading these programs in Ithaca N.Y. since 2007.
