Meditation and Mindfulness classes for friends and families of loved ones who struggle with addiction

As part of the Tompkins Community Public Library 2025 Harm Reduction Grant Project, I will be teaching Meditation and Mindfulness classes on the first Tuesday of every month in 2025. Join me at 5:00-6:30 at the library. Contact Sasha at TCPL to register free of charge.

Mindfulness Day of Practice

A day of silent practice on the grounds and in the studio at Firefly Farm Retreat.
Participants will be guided through several sitting and walking meditations, body scans, mindful eating, and gentle yoga. An excellent refresher for past students of MBSR and MBCT, and others, who have had some experience in mindfulness practice.
Fee: $75. Early bird registration $65 until August 31. Class size limited to 15.

 We will explore the profound and heart-opening poetry of Rumi, Hafiz, and other ancient and modern poets as we enter and refresh meditation practice -- work on the cushion and yoga mat that helps us explore our inner life as well as enliven everyday living and relationships.

Embodied Wakefulness - Living in Connection with Mind, Body and Heart

This 6-week course is appropriate for all - those new to meditation as well as people with experience who would like to refresh and deepen their practice.

Emphasis is placed on our own inner resources and how to access them to live more fully in the present and enhance daily living, relationships, and well-being. Students will learn and practice sitting, lying down, and moving meditation, explore supports and obstacles to practice, and will end the 6 weeks prepared with their own plan for continuing.

Classes are held at Firefly Farm Retreat in Ithaca on Tuesdays at 6:00-8:00 PM beginning on October 10.

CEU’s available for those with LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, PsyD, and PhD Licenses.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction - MBSR Spring 2020- POSTPONED

This Program will begin with an Introduction on Wednesday April 22, at 6:00 PM. Classes follow at 6:00-8:30 PM on 04/29, 05/06, 05/13, 05/20, 05/27, 06/03, 06/10, 06/17. The all-day workshop will be held on June 06, 8:30-3:30.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts in 1979. Participants learn a variety of mindfulness practices including sitting, walking, eating meditations, and yoga.  This work, combined with learning about stress reactivity and coping responses, forms a foundation that helps one to develop a different relationship to stressors in daily life.
